A long time ago, way back in history

when all there was to drink was nothin’ but cups of tea.
Along came a man by the name of Charlie Mops,
and he invented a wonderful drink and he made it out of hops.

God bless Charlie Mops and three pubs in Boston.

Unluckilly for the Irish, David Ortiz purchased Desmond O’Malley’s and changed it to Big Papi’s Grille in the summer of ‘09. Luckilly there’s still...

The Asgard. No, not something to protect your butt. But an excellent spot to park your backside and have a pint or two.

Todo comenzó con un ratón

This was one of my favorite projects ever. I love animation and I love working in dimensional environments. Although this was a huge undertaking and not a lot of time to do it.

I enjoyed the hell out of it.

The exhibit was the equivalent of three football fields in length. Working closely with Disney historians we were allowed access to some of the most precious animation artifacts known to man... or mouse.

Each wall section had to be meticulously mapped out and coded with vinyl lettering and separate id system for the archival images which were carefully handled with white gloved hands. In our situation, we had five fingers to work with instead of four.

Customs was a total nightmare, and John Georgopoulos and I spent at least two weeks in South America just waiting for our materials to be released for installation. Our biggest decision of the day was what cut of steak to order for lunch and dinner.

The Atkins diet was and probably still is alive and well in Argentina.

We utilized character cut outs to help direct exhibit viewers.

Ah the smell of diesel in the air, and carpet glue in an unventilated space. This was near the end of the exhibit and also one of the final parts of the exhibit to be completed. I’ll never forget the feeling of accomplishment with only 45 minutes to spare before the Grand Opening.

The nausea, headaches and bouts of Montezuma’s revenge were worth it in the end.

7-eleven/Coca-Cola Co-op

This was a fun project combining music and soft drinks.

The assignment was to create a co-branded cup, signage and print advertising and web graphics for a Sweepstakes for 7-eleven, sponsored by Coca-Cola. The prizes ranged from 6 CDs to a free trip to the Concert.

Below is the initial cup concept that was chosen out of 5 or six entries. Luckily the client liked my design over the others.

Round one.

“We love it.”

Round four.

No matter that the initial concept was well received, multiple revisions were executed throughout the process. After several rounds of fine tuning we discovered we needed to change the name of the Sweepstakes.

The gist of it was, we were unable to use the word “Maximum”. The direction was to change ”Maximum Music Connection“ to “Total Music Access”.

The background was changed to a lighter blue as the dark blue was determined to be too close to a competitor of Coca-Cola. Understandably so.

Final final.

At the eleventh hour, attorney’s would not sign off on the word ”Total“.  The approved name was ”Slurpee Summer Music“ the tagline was also changed to ”The ultimate cool“.

Things go better with Coke

A story with a happy ending.

During the 100th Olympiad in Atlanta I had the unique opportunity to work on the environmental graphics for Coca-Cola Olympic City, an 8-acre plaza adjacent to the city's Centennial Olympic Park.

Slicing through red tape and getting approval was a breeze as a hard and fast deadline of the Summer Olympics was non-negotiable.
